More of What You're Looking For
A spire at the top of tall, prominent building is a strong visual symbol, proclaiming its presence for the whole world to see. Likewise, our Spire® line of ultra polymers comprises a full range of ultra-performance materials that tower at the top of the plastics performance pyramid.
Spire® ultra polymers are used today more than ever in demanding aerospace, automotive, electronics, health-care, industrial and oil and gas applications. Components like bearings, bushings, and gears can last longer when made from Torlon®, KetaSpire®, and AvaSpire® resins. That's because these high performance plastics combine exceptional wear resistance with high strength, thermal and dimensional stability, as well as chemical resistance in both dry and lubricated environments.
These high performance plastics are also used throughout the semiconductor industry where dimensional stability, wear resistance, chemical resistance, and high temperature processing are required. High strength and stiffness plus long-life performance makes them an effective alternative to metal components in wafer handling, processing vessels, parts carriers, and IC test equipment sockets and handlers.
KetaSpire® polyetheretherketone (PEEK)
KetaSpire PEEK offers the highest chemical resistance of any semi-crystalline plastic with excellent retention of mechanical properties up to 570°F (300°C). Glass fiber-reinforced and carbon fiber-reinforced grades provide a wide range of performance options for demanding applications.
AvaSpire® modified PEEK
AvaSpire modified PEEK grades are specifically formulated to meet specific application requirements. These formulations capitalize on PEEK's distinctive performance attributes, with some grades offering more attractive economics.
PrimoSpire® self-reinforced polyphenylene
PrimoSpire self-reinforced polyphenylene (SRP) is a transparent amorphous plastic that provides exceptional strength, stiffness and hardness without reinforcements. This, combined with the material's high compressive strength-one of the highest among plastics-makes PrimoSpire SRP ideal for structural applications that have historically relied on composites and metals. PrimoSpire resin also offers uniquely superior chemical resistance, fire retardant and ablative properties.
EpiSpire® high-temperature sulfone
EpiSpire® high-temperature sulfone (HTS) has the highest heat resistance of any transparent thermoplastic. With a Tg of 265°C (509°F), it can provide the strength, stiffness and dimensional stability in high-temperature applications that have traditionally relied on filled, semi-crystalline polymers.
Torlon® polyamide-imide
Torlon polyamide-imide (PAI) has the highest strength and stiffness of any thermoplastic up to 275°C (525°F). It has outstanding resistance to wear, creep, and chemicals- including strong acids and most organics-and is ideally suited for severe service environments.
