Semi-Aromatic Polyamides

Our semi-crystalline polymers go above and beyond. They are typically compounded with additives such as glass, minerals and impact modifiers to achieve exacting results.

Glass fiber-reinforced grades provide higher stiffness, strength and creep resistance at high temperature for structural applications. Mineral-filled resins offer enhanced dimensional stability and flatness, making them good candidates for plating and epoxy coatings. Impact-modified grades provide significantly improved toughness across a broad humidity and temperature range. Amodel® polyphthalamide
Got heat and humidity? Amodel polyphthalamide (PPA) can meet the challenge. With a heat deflection temperature of 536°F (280°C) and continuous use temperature of 338°F (170°C), Amodel compounds can deliver the thermal performance you need for the short term as well as the long haul. It retains its exceptional mechanical properties - strength, stiffness, fatigue and creep resistance - over a broad temperature range and in high humidity environments.

More Application-Specific Grades
This versatile family of high-temperature nylons can give you the strength of aluminum, the stiffness of steel, and the impact and ductility of hard rubber - depending on the grade you choose. Structural grades offer improved weld-line strength for larger, thicker parts. Toughened grades combine exceptional toughness with a range of stiffness and flexibility; this makes them a good choice for snap-fit components for both rigid, single-use and flexible, repetitive-use applications. Special grades for applications needing flame-retardancy, glycol-resistance and reflectivity are available.

More Processing Options
Amodel resin can be processed following standard methods for either hot oil or hot water injection molding techniques. Shapes can be machined for prototype evaluations. Plus, you can do most post-fabrication operations such as ultrasonic, vibration and laser welding, over-molding, adhesive bonding and laser marking as well as heat staking, threading and machining.

Ixef® polyarylamide
Ixef polyarylamide (PARA) uniquely combines two important properties - stiffness and surface smoothness - for a multitude of structural components.

Typical Ixef compounds contain 50-60% glass fiber reinforcement, delivering remarkable strength and rigidity. Yet the material's very good flow properties make it easy to fill very thin sections, and can produce an ultra-smooth surface with no glass fibers - ideal for painting, metallization or producing a naturally reflective surface.

The tensile strength and CLTE of Ixef resin are similar to many cast metals and alloys. This combines with low creep and low water absorption to make it an excellent candidate for metal replacement.

More Product Choices
These materials are available in an extensive variety of grades, including glass fiber and mineral-filled, advanced-filler reinforced, flame retardant, impact modified and colored.
