Shower Valves and Taps

Udel polysulfone delivers excellent hydrolytic and dimensional stability along with toughness and creep resistance to perform reliably in shower valves and taps. It can be precision molded into complex shapes – holding very tight tolerances – and is highly resistant to mineral build-up and corrosion.

Hydrolytic Stability
It’s important to understand how the mechanical properties of plastics are affected by prolonged
exposure to hot water. Click here to see the results
of a recent study.

Oxidative Stability
The strong oxidizing conditions caused by the
presence of chlorine in drinking water must also be considered. Click here to learn more about Udel polysulfone’s ability to withstand this highly aggressive environment.

Low creep under load
Unlike many other plastics, polysulfone provides
metal-like resistance to dimensional changes under sustained load. Please consult the long-term creep properties in the design guide for details.

High Structural Stiffness and Strength
Amodel PPA and Ixef PARA can be useful in applications with limited water contact requiring high structural stiffness and strength. However they lack the hydrolytic and oxidative stability of Udel PSU.
