Discover More Solutions for Mobile Electronics

Solvay Advanced Polymers offers more high-temperature plastics for mobile electronics than any other company in the world. Building on our extensive know-how in designing these complex, thin-walled parts, our team of engineering professionals is available to support your product development, prototyping and production activities around the world. We offer Moldflow analysis to optimize part and tool design, and have experience and knowledge in consulting with toolmakers; we can also assist in molding trials. Take advantage of the many benefits of using high-performance polymers for your structural components.

Ixef® polyarylamide (PARA) – aesthetic, structural specialty nylon that combines outstanding stiffness with exceptional surface appearance, plus low and slow water uptake, and great flow properties. Key benefits for mobile electronics include excellent flow into thin-walls, colorable & paintable, extremely high Strength and Stiffness, outstanding surface appearance.

Amodel® polyphthalamide (PPA) – high-temperature nylon with exceptional mechanical properties, an HDT of 535°F (280°C), excellent chemical resistance and low moisture uptake. Key benefits for mobile electronics include surface mount capable to 260°C, excellent electrical properties, improved flow for micro-components.

Xydar® liquid crystal polymers (LCP) – high-flow, high-temperature plastic with an HDT of 570°F (300°C), and extremely high chemical resistance. Key benefits for mobile electronics include extreme flow, surface mount capable, Inherently UL94 V0.

Radel® polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) – super-tough transparent plastic with an HDT of 405°F (207°C), excellent chemical resistance and the unique ability to be steam sterilized without significant loss of properties. Key benefits for mobile electronics include superior sound performance and are available in thin films.

PrimoSpire® self-reinforced polyphenylene (SRP) – is a transparent amorphous plastic that provides exceptional strength and stiffness without reinforcements. PrimoSpire offers a remarkable combination of surface hardness, chemical resistance and inherent flame-retardant properties. Key benefits for mobile electronics include extremely high strength to weight ratio and modulus to weight ratio. Excellent scratch resistance without coating.

KetaSpire® polyetheretherketone (PEEK) – offers the highest chemical resistance of any semi-crystalline plastic with excellent retention of mechanical properties up to 570°F (300°C). Glass fiber-reinforced and carbon fiber-reinforced grades provide a wide range of performance options for demanding applications. Key benefits for mobile electronics include very good surface finish and excellent melt flow for easy processing.

AvaSpire modified PEEK (polyetheretherketone) – grades are formulated to meet specific application requirements. These formulations capitalize on PEEK's distinctive performance attributes. Key benefits for mobile electronics include colorability and ductility.
