Rising under hood temperatures, longer life expectations, and more aggressive assembly processes, such as increasing winding speeds, are pushing the performance limits of traditional coil wound bobbin materials, such as polybutyleneterephthalate (PBT) and aliphatic polyamides PA). AMODEL polyphthalamide and XYDAR liquid crystal polymer are ideally suited for these more demanding assembly and end use environments.

AMODEL resin grades AS-4145 HS and A-1133 HS are particularly well suited for bobbin applications, regardless of whether the bobbins are for motor, alternator, solenoid, or electromechanical relay applications. For the most demanding applications, including those that require a resin with exceptional flow characteristics or a very high continuous use temperature of up to 240ºC (464ºF), XYDAR G-930 resin is an excellent material of choice.
