Plastics for Aircraft

Solvay Advanced Polymers offers more plastics for structural, decorative and mechanical applications in commercial aircraft than  any other company in the world. These materials help manufacturers improve aesthetics and design flexibility, meet changing standards, reduce fuel consumption and lower costs.

Aircraft Interiors Radel R polyphenylsulfone meets stringent FAA regulations for smoke generation, toxicity and heat release. Transparent and opaque grades can be fabricated into sheets, profiles and tubing. Integrally colored grades eliminate the added cost and weight of painting.

Mechanical Applications

Torlon polyamide-imide
delivers the highest strength and stiffness of any thermoplastic up to 275°C in addition to superior resistance to chemicals, creep and wear.

KetaSpire PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is an easy-to-mold aircraft plastic offering outstanding chemical resistance and mechanical performance up to 300°C.

AvaSpire modified PEEK grades are novel PEEK-based formulations with unique advantages that bridge price and performance gaps.

PrimoSpire self-reinforced polyphenylene is the world’s stiffest and strongest unreinforced polymer with a remarkable combination of surface hardness, chemical resistance and inherent flame-retardant properties.

Radel R polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) goes beyond exceptional performance in aircraft interiors and can be extruded into flexible or structural tubing for behind-the-wall applications.
